Rye Beer : Barrel : Time 2023 Release
Side Project Brewing is excited to announce the 2023 release of our non-adjunct, Rye Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout that focuses on three key things that really exemplify Side Project – the Beer we brew, the Barrels we age the beer in and the Time spent in those barrels.

Out of all of our stouts, I believe we all take more pride in our BBT series than any of the others. There is nothing for us to hide in these beers and I believe it best shows our abilities as brewers to brew great stout meant for barrels and for it to also showcase our ability to barrel age our beers to a variety of lengths of time to best create our signature stout characteristics.
Being that this beer is about the barrel, it really shows how a simple thing like type-of-barrel can really direct the whole beer. Something as simple as experimenting with Rye Barrels years ago has now created one of our most sought after beers. This year's release was aged for 14 to 57 months in our two favorite rye producer's barrels - Willett and Still630.
This year's Rye BBT blend was narrowed down to barrels which included our O.W.K., Vibes, and Derivation 3 recipes. Derivation Blend #3 is one of my favorites and that recipe just works in Rye barrels. It was brewed specifically to age in Rye Barrels and to hopefully place in this blend. The barrels in which these recipes aged-in were Willett 4 and 5 yr Rye, and Still630 4 yr Rye. As with the previous blend of Rye BBT, these are our favorite Rye Barrels for our recipes and their youth is essential for us to age as long as we do, to develop our flavors, and to create the pieces we need for the final blend.
This package includes two of our "white label" Saisons which we have been brewing, blending and bottling since 2014 - Saison du Blé and Bière du Pays. Saison du Blé translates to "Saison from Wheat" and is our billowy, round, lovely oak-aged Saison. Bright, tart, lemon meringue and soft vanillas are the defining characteristics of this 6% Saison. Bière du Pays is our "Beer from the Country" and is one of our interpretations of a Saison brewed to a more classic strength of 4% ABV. Light, lively, citrusy, Bière du Pays is our small Saison perfect for any day.
Now, let us introduce the newest blend of Pulling Nails, our 10th Anniversary Blend inspired by what started it all for us - Pulling Nails Blend #1. Pulling Nails 10th Anniversary is a blend consisting of a new brew of Saison de Rouge (a 100% Brettanomyces barrel-fermented Red Saison), a new brew of Brett Project #1 (a 100% Brettanomyces barrel-fermented Blonde) and a French Oak-aged Lambic-inspired beer which had been aging for 10 months to 3 years. Much like the first blend, the 10th Anniversary Blend of Pulling Nails is full of ripe strawberry and cherry blossom notes. We started working on the pieces for this blend more than a year ago, in hopes the barrels would progress in a direction to pay homage to Pulling Nails Blend #1 while also creating a new blend special for our Anniversary Year.

This package will go LIVE in our Online Shop on Friday, June 30th, at 10am CT. Pick ups will begin Friday, June 30th at 1pm in our Brewery Tasting Room. You and/or a proxy will have 3 weeks from the time of purchase to pick up this beer. All orders are fulfilled at our Brewery Tasting Room (7458 Manchester Rd.) Friday-Sunday from 1pm-8pm and Monday from 3pm-8pm. Cheers!
